Aiken Group use Elcon saw for their seaworthy engineering projects

Aiken Group Limited of Aberdeen is a leading provider of engineering and construction solutions for offshore installations. These include modular office and administration units together with associated design, engineering, project management and construction services on an international scale.

The company approached Daltons Wadkin because they needed a vertical panel saw for cutting a variety of materials used in their manufacturing processes and subsequently chose an Elcon 155DSX Vertical Panel Saw which incorporates pneumatically operated moveable frame, heavy duty (5.5 kW) motor providing two saw spindle speeds together with Niels atomising spray lubrication system and moisture filter.

The specification was put together by Daltons Wadkin Sales Director Andy Walsh who has had considerable experience with adapting the Elcon machines to suit special materials. Dust exhaust equipment was also provided together with delivery and commissioning services using the company’s own specialist transport and engineers. The equipment was installed in October and is now in daily use.

Aiken Group MD Danny Donald is delighted with the installation which is meeting all his requirements, so much so that Alex Dalton was welcomed at the company’s Aberdeen headquarters subsequent to the installation when he was able to see and photograph the machine in operation.
