Deadline Cutting Ltd are Watford based bespoke shopfitting and exhibition stand manufacturers who although established for some 6 or 7 years and with a growing customer base had an urgent need to speed up production. Their particular problem was the sizing of boards used in their manufacturing process with the result that the proprietor Phil Spinks approached Daltons Wadkin in an effort to find the best solution.
The Nottingham based woodworking machinery distributors and manufacturers were quick to assess the situation which called for the supply of a Vertical Panel Cutting Machine of 3300 x 1550 mm capacity. In view of the design of Deadline’s premises the machine had to be dismantled prior to delivery and transported to Watford where two engineers were required to lift the components up on to a mezzanine floor and subsequently re-assemble, commission and test. Operator training was also provided by Daltons Wadkin.
The machine chosen for the job was a new Elcon 155D Vertical Panel Saw which is a compact and competitively priced unit which is powerful, easy to operate and has a generous cutting capacity.
Mr Spinks commented “I knew a Vertical Panel Saw would be a huge time and space saving investment, but I didn’t realise quite how true this was until we started using the Elcon. The 60 mm depth of cut allows us to size multiple boards at the same time, a real time saver”.
Alex Dalton who later visited the site was pleased with the installation, “It was good to show that we can put a high quality Elcon Vertical Panel Saw into a location with difficult if not to say complicated access with great success. On the first day of operation the machine was put to the test sizing over 250 boards and this rate of operation had to be continued until their backlog was cleared.”
