Although technically the entry level vertical panel saw from Elcon, the D model is well equipped with a range of features for operating in industrial environments. Incorporating the same frame design and construction techniques found throughout the entire Elcon range, the D is ideal for customers looking for a safe, cost effective, space saving panel sizing solution.
The Elcon D wall saw is capable of cutting single or multiple sheets up to a thickness of 60mm and available in four frame sizes for working with standard board dimensions available in the UK;
155 frame – 3300 x 1550 mm cutting capacity
185 frame – 3300 x 1850 mm cutting capacity
215 frame – 4300 x 2150 mm cutting capacity
The frame itself is a fully self-supporting design, constructed from robust modular components with high precision guidance bar. Elcon’s unique manufacturing process ensures tension free fitting of the guidance bar resulting in reliable lifelong cutting accuracy of 0.1mm/m.
If you are looking for a custom frame size take a look at the other models in the Elcon range.
As with most Elcon vertical panel saws the D features an automatic shifting back frame. Panels are supported by a series of horizontal backing strips. When cutting horizontally inevitably the sawing line will sometimes coincide with the support strips. Rather than cutting through the support strips the Elcon D recognises when this will happen and moves the support strips out of the sawing line. This is all done automatically requiring no input from the operator, ensuring no damage is caused to the machine. The system can be powered pneumatically or electronically.
As standard the D model is equipped with a series of transport rollers to aid the loading of heavier work pieces with damage. The rollers are engaged manually by means of a foot pedal mounted on the left hand side of the machine. Once loaded, the rollers are lowered allowing the panel to rest on the nylon support blocks ready for cutting.
When cutting smaller work pieces a mid-rail fence can be engaged raising the working height of the machine to save the operator having to bend down.
The balanced sawing head can be quickly orientated through 90° to set up for either vertical or horizontal cutting. The high speed saw motor runs at 5100 rpm to ensure smooth precise cutting.
The saw blade is fully enclosed with a pressure shoe providing additional protection when cutting. Panels are kept firmly secured against the back frame while dust is captured directly above the cutting line.
For repetitive horizontal strip cutting the machine is supplied with a repeat stop. This allows the saw head to be quickly lowered and set against the last cut for consistent accuracy.
When working with faced material, laminated and veneered board Elcon’s double cut scoring system can be used to avoid chipping and breakout. Provided as standard on the D, this system enables the operator to limit the depth of plunge on the main saw blade allowing a reverse cut to made, scoring the material, followed by a full plunge to cut right through the material resulting in a perfectly clean cut.
Two independent flip down fence stops are used for positioning panels when cutting vertically. The saw beam is locked into one of a series of positions (0, 1, 2 etc) and the fence stop adjusted. For example, when cutting 1300mm, the fence is positioned to 300mm and the saw beam locked at position 1, for 2300mm the fence remains positioned at 300mm and the saw beam locked into position 2.
