Image Technique upgrade their Elcon wall saw following 20 years of reliable service

Image Technique is a market leading signage company based in the UK, encompassing digital billboards, customer engagement and integrated solutions with customers including West Ham stadium, Odeon cinema and The Shard. Following 20 years of operation, is was time to upgrade their existing Elcon vertical panel saw. The team from Image Technique looked to Elcon’s sole distributor Daltons Wadkin for advise on their next machine.

Currently, the UK sign industry has an estimated worth of £500m, with forecasts suggesting a pivotal growth within the industry of printed signage by 2024 due to increasing demand for informational signage, window vinyl’s and stand-off signage. Alan Harrison, Image Techniques machine shop supervisor, states that “Image Technique has been operating for approximately 20 years, with the company maintaining a hands-on approach in the manufacturing process, by producing products in-house to retain consistent quality.”

Daltons Wadkin has represented Elcon for over 30 years in the UK and Ireland and offer extensive showroom facilities in Nottingham for hands on demonstrations across the range. Following a number of discussions regarding production requirements, Daltons Wadkin was able to recommend the latest Elcon 215 DS vertical panel saw. Alan Harrison noted, “The reason we prefer a vertical panel saw over a sliding table saw is all down to saving space, our largest sheet size being approximately 3mx2m”.

The 215 DS from Dutch manufacturers Elcon is aimed at professional users looking for a heavy duty, precision panel sizing solution which features extreme accuracy of 0.1mm/m and a double cut scoring system. The DS model is highly customisable and can be configured with a range of options for processing wood-based panels, composites, plastics and non-ferrous metals. As with all Elcon wall saws the DS provides operators with a safe and reliable cutting solution.

As Image Technique had reaped the benefits of using the Elcon wall saw in the past, they quickly saw the benefits of the latest features on offer including electronic digital readouts to the vertical and horizontal axis, foot-operated transport rollers, programming rail, repeat stop for strip cutting, automatic moving back frame, increased motor power to 4kw and the extension to measuring stop. Alan Harrison explained, “The digital readouts on the measuring system has made it a lot easier and it’s a really nice smooth running saw with the automatic moving back frame making it easier for cross-cutting without worry of damaging the support strips.”

Currently, the new Elcon 215 DS vertical panel saw has been in operation at Image Technique for 12 months. Alan Harrison, is quick to recommend Daltons Wadkin not only for the products but quality of service, “The whole experience was professional from the point of enquiry to installation, training and handover. As for the Elcon, we are looking forward to another 20 years of reliable service.”
