A showcase for woodworking machine technology from Altendorf, Greda and Houfek
With over 10,000 visitors expected to visit over four days, Wood-Tec 2017 is one of the most important events for timber processing and furniture manufacturing in Central and Eastern Europe. Major names including Altendorf, Greda and Houfek are amongst the 300 plus woodworking machine brands exhibited at the show based in Brno, Czech Republic.
Houfek, with headquarters based in the Czech Republic, are present with one of the largest stands at the event. On show are examples from their diverse portfolio including classical woodworking machinery such as spindle moulders, planers and thicknessers, high precision multi-head wide belt sanders and, new for 2017, the Orion X3 CNC machining centre.
Houfek has been manufacturing CNC routers for around 10 years, honing the product range to ensure significant competitive advantages over established competitors from Germany and Italy. Today there are six main models within Houfek’s offering from compact, competitively priced 3 axis CNC machines for solid wood and panel processing to large format 5 axis CNC machines for modelling.
The Houfek Orion X3 CNC router is available as a pod and rail machine, or with matrix vacuum table. Houfek’s Export Manager, Michal Vrnata, is keen to point out why they are the company to watch in CNC technology. ‘We have invested heavily in our CNC production facilities over the past few years. With the exception of the router heads and motors, we manufacture everything in house. This gives us a key advantage of being able to offer customised solutions for customers to meet their exact requirements without having to compromise. Our control software is completely open. The machine can easily integrate into customers existing CAD/CAM package. We do not force them to use our own software. This makes the day to day production workflow allot more simple’.
Established in 1991, Houfek now employ over 200 staff with an annual turnover of £10 million. 90% of their production is exported to Europe and further afield. Michal continues, ‘we welcome any potential customer to visit our company to see the manufacturing process. We have nothing to hide and are proud to show off the impressive build quality that is found in all Houfek products’.
Czech machinery distributor, Tekma, exhibited the Greda Poker 3 axis CNC lathe. The Poker and Mitika models are part of the specialist range of CNC machines from Italian specialist Greda for the production of turned furniture components.
BG Tecknik is a key dealer for Altendorf sliding table panel saws in the Czech Republic. Two Altendorf F45 panel saws are on show with ProDrive and EvoDrive control, complete with powered CNC rip fence, DIGIT L crosscut fence and 2 axis scoring unit.Contact us for more information
