Following the liquidation of Wadkin Limited earlier this year the intellectual property rights have been purchased by Nottingham based woodworking machinery distributors and manufacturers Daltons.
This move in effect brings together two long established woodworking machinery suppliers who have traded with each other for over 50 years and accumulated over 200 years of experience in the industry between them.
A number of Wadkin personnel have transferred to the new Nottingham base including Alan Powney as Commercial Manager who amongst other duties is overseeing manufacturing processes and the sourcing of component parts.
Director Francis Dalton commented “I have been working with Wadkin and selling Wadkin machines for the whole of my working life. Our company have been distributors for Wadkin since 1956 and it is surely fitting that the Wadkin name has finally come to where I feel it belongs. Wadkin will be operated alongside our own business as a machine manufacturer and distributor, also offering machine service, training and parts supply.”
Francis added “Historically the Wadkin name has been synonymous with some of the finest UK designed and built woodworking machinery and the brand is still recognised worldwide today. Daltons have for some time owned the manufacturing and distribution rights to the classical range which will continue to be built to the original designs and specifications”. He continued “After watching from the sidelines the ups and downs of the Wadkin business over recent years it is particularly satisfying for us to have the opportunity of restoring the Wadkin name and associating it with the same ethics and business practices which have proved so successful in our own organisation”.
