  • Description

    The SCM Minimax ME 35 is a highly configurable through feed hotmelt edgebander that can be equipped with a combination working units and finishing units. The machine is suitable for coiled edging up to 3 mm thick, and solid edge strips up to 5 mm thick.

    The pre-milling unit (ME 35T and ME 35TR models only) removes any imperfections on the panel edge caused by sawing before the glue and edging is applied operation ensuring a clean, crisp bond between the panel and edging. Pre-milling also useful if the panels have been stored prior to edging.

    The SCM Minimax ME 35 is PLC controlled that allows an easy selection of all the main functions, among them, the operating units switching on and off. The PLC guides the operator during maintenance, cleaning, diagnostic operations, etc.

    The glue is heated rapidly and evenly with automatic temperature lowering after a temporary halt in production to avoid burning the adhesive. Two rollers press the edge banding evenly and efficiently on to the panel edge. The glue spreading roller with heating elements inside provides a uniform glue spread the optimal working temperature.

    The machine units operate with slide copying pads to align perfectly to the work piece. Cutters are designed for straight or radius trimming of any type of edge, whether it is thick or thin, made of PVC, ABS, melamine, laminate or wood. The edge thickness is easily set by means of two numerical readouts.

    The SCM Minimax ME 35 is available in three models;

    ME 35 – glue pot, edge loading and pressing system, end cutting unit, in-line trimming unit

    ME 35T – pre-milling unit, glue pot, edge loading and pressing system, special end cutting unit with “radius” function, in-line trimming unit

    ME 35TR – pre-milling unit, glue pot, edge loading and pressing system, combined end cutting-rounding unit, in-line trimming unit

    Basic machine units

    Pre-milling unit (ME 35T/ ME 35TR models only)

    • Complete with 1 diamond tools, 80 mm diameter. It allows a very good panel finish and linearity during pre-machining. It is equipped with exhaust hood and air blower which cleans the panel from dust and chips.
    • 4 possible removals: 0,5 -1 -1,5 – 2 mm thickness.
    • It is possible to carry out vertical adjustments of the tool to use it even in the final sharpening phase.

    Glue pot unit, edge loading and pressing system

    • hot melt glue with quick heat up system and internally teflon coated to allow an easy glue replacement
    • glue application on the panel by means of glue spreading roller

    End cutting unit (ME 35 model only)

    • with high frequency motor for 90° end cutting of front and rear exceeding edge.

    Special end cutting unit with “radius” function (ME 35T model only)

    • It is installed in place of the standard end cutting unit, during the process of cutting of the
    • front and rear exceeding edge; it rounds-off the angles of the edge banded panel carrying out a radiused edge.
    • When edge banding solid wood, the end cutting with “Radius” function, however, will carry out a straight cut.
    • It is directly controlled from the control panel.
    • It is complete with:
      • 1 high frequency motor (0,19 kW – 12.000 rpm)
      • 1 blade Ø 125 mm Z12

    Combined end cutting-rounding unit (ME 35TR model only)

    • It is installed in place of the standard end cutting unit, during the process of removal of the
    • front and rear exceeding edge; it
    • cuts and rounds the edge in a single pass at the ends of the panel.
    • It is possible to work only with end cutting function.
    • It is driven directly from control panel
    • Complete with:
      • 1 high frequency motor (0,35 kW – 12.000 rpm)
      • 1 cutter Ø 58 mm Z4
    • It is not suitable for the processing of solid wood edges.

    In-line trimming unit

    • with high frequency motors, front rotating copiers and vertical copying discs for an accurate positioning of tools with reference to the cutting point.
    • The unit is provided with 55,3 mm diameter, combined cutters: the radius part of the cutter is used to trim radius edges (2mm or 3 mm on request) and chamfered thin edges. The straight part of the cutter is used for the trimming of edges in wood up to 5 mm. Changing from radius edge to edge in wood is done easily moving the cutters.
    • The edge thickness is shown by 2 numeric readouts. The unit is equipped with independent exhaust systems.

     

    Optional equipment

    The ME 35 can be configured with three out of the following four finishing units;

    Edge scraping unit

    • For the finishing of 2 mm PVC/ABS edges (other thicknesses on request)
    • It assures an excellent vibration free finish thanks to its high rigidity structure.
    • High working precision thanks to the horizontal and vertical copying pads (with chrome plated surfaces), which assure an accurate positioning of the knives in relation to the cutting point.
    • Pair of knives included (R= 2mm; other thicknesses upon request).
    • Manual exclusion of the unit.

    Brushing unit

    • With two independent motors (s1 0,14kW – 2.800 rpm) for the cleaning and polishing of the edge.
    • Tilted, vertically adjustable motors to optimize the cleaning/polishing action.

    Glue scraping unit

    • It eliminates any excess of glue in the joint between panel and edge, improving the panel cleaning.

    Scoring unit for grooves execution

    • for the execution of only through grooves on the upper side of the panel
