Winners of the TTJ Small Business of the Year Award 2011, J W Timber Ltd, currently celebrating their 10th anniversary, has invested in new premises and equipment to meet a growing customer demand.

John Wardle, founder of J W Timber Ltd, explains why he looked to Daltons Wadkin when moving to their new purpose built machining facility in Marden, Kent: “We initially contacted Daltons Wadkin to source an additional straight line edger. After discussing our overall project plans for early 2013 we quickly realised that Daltons Wadkin offered everything we needed from a serviced Wadkin PU Straight Line Edger, to the sophisticated Salvador S200 Automatic Crosscut.”

“One of the key things that set Daltons Wadkin apart was the additional Support Services offered. We took advantage of their in-house machine moving and installation service, had our equipment serviced and upgraded and continue to use them for ongoing maintenance and breakdown assistance. Having everything offered from a single source took a lot of stress out of the move.”

Salvador Crosscut
John Wardle first saw the Salvador at W12 exhibition, “The Salvador S200 Crosscut was a fantastic discovery. We had been considering various options from the usual sources. While other manufacturers applied high pressure sales tactics it was a refreshing change to deal with a family run company that listened to our requirements”

Daltons Wadkin has seen a considerable increase in demand for the Salvador products. Not afraid of a bit of competition Alex Dalton comments “Salvador is a relatively new name to the UK market. Despite the obvious competition on show at W12 I knew once J W Timber could see the build quality and witness how easy it is to use they would be sold”.

Factory relocation and installation
With the new building finished on schedule Daltons Wadkin were called in to implement the turnkey operation including the machinery move and reinstallation, commissioning of the Salvador Crosscut and Wadkin Edger and servicing the existing equipment.

Alex Dalton is proud of the services on offer. “We have considerable experience with all types of factory relocations and of course specialise in woodworking equipment. The unique combination of running our own custom built craned lorry, coupled with our highly trained engineering staff enables us to efficiently and safely decommission, uplift and relocate equipment.”
